We wish to inform residents and members of the Eketāhuna Community of the closure of the club at its Annual Meeting held on 19 July 2023.
While this decision was sad it was we believe timely as we were down to 9 members many of whom are in mid 70’s to mid 80’s and the task of maintaining the grounds and buildings were getting beyond us.
The Bowling club grounds were donated by A H Herbert in 1909 for the community to establish a Bowling Club which was duly opened in 1911.
It was therefore moved at our AGM that the grounds and buildings be legally gifted to the Eketāhuna Community Charitable Trust to either lease or sell to the benefit of the district as a whole- through grants, projects etc now or in the future.
The members of the Bowling Club would like to thank all those who have supported us over the past few years – your support is the reason we have maintained the club as long as we have our sincere thanks.
We wish you all the very best in the future and keep this wonderful community together.
For and on behalf of the Eketahuna Bowling Club Inc,
Yours sincerely John Harman.
