A Busy Whare Whakairo 

Plenty of progress is being made at our whare whakairo (carving studio). The carving team have been hard at work creating the new kōwhaiwhai (interior boards) for the restoration inside the whare nui at Te Ore Ore Marae, in Masterton.

Each of these panels takes one week to draw up and paint; Tipene our master craftsman was quick to point out ‘a lot of the sketch work for the panels is done free-hand.
