Pūkaha Community Open Day

Enjoy a fun day out with the whānau amongst nature as Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre opens its doors to the community. Everyone is welcome. Koha entry.
We are delighted to confirm Westpac Ambassador and All Blacks legend, Richie McCaw will be joining us on the day! Come and meet your Kiwi icon and see what he gets up to at Pūkaha!

Discover wildlife, native forest walks, ranger talks, fun kids activities, market stalls, food, Whare Whakairo (carving studio) and much more. Delicious, quick food is available at Kākā Café.
Please bring cash for koha entry, food and market stalls.
Please no pets or alcohol. Limited carparking available.

Free buses will be available from Dannevirke to Pūkaha; stopping at Woodville, Pahiatua and Eketāhuna. Bookings essential via pukaha.org.nz. Additionally, there will be a free shuttle bus running between the Eketāhuna Community Centre, Haswell Street and Pūkaha on the hour, every hour. No bookings required. Buses operated by Danelines and generously funded by Tararua District Council.
Monies raised will be used to support native forest restoration and the captive breeding-and-release of endangered native species into the wild.
