In the past month, we have welcomed Kim Mackail onto the nursing staff. Kim comes with a wealth of experience and the ability to train others. Thank you to Trish Wilkinson for taking time from First Health & Wellness to cover leave.
Our recent fundraising quiz night at Eketāhuna Community Centre raised $948 for Rural Support Tararua. Thank you to all that came along. Thank you to locals who organised prizes from Trust House, Maison/The Lazy Graze Café and Keinzleys. Thank you to Graeme Nelson from our board for providing the PA system, to Wai Quiz who ran the quiz, to Linda Osborne for the flowers, to Eke Library and to Tararua District Council. Massive thank you to Cheryl and Emma in the kitchen. We have raffle available to raise more funds for Rural Support. First prize $200 New World voucher, $75 Dandy and Blue voucher (new florist in town) AND soap pack from Fantail Botanicals.
Our Christmas Kai Drive is Monday 16 December 6pm – 7pm. Please donate what you can. We are in need of non-perishable food items which will help us provide Christmas food parcels and restock our foodbank shelves
Our monthly ladies’ brunch will be a BBQ on Monday 16 December 11am at the health centre. If you would like to attend, please contact Emma, our community coordinator, on 021 250 3015
Our Weekly Well-Being activities are:
- Mondays Chair Yoga 9.45am at St. Cuthberts Hall (last one Monday 23 December) and Wednesdays
- Menz Shed from 9.30am (Wednesday 18 December)
- Te Reo Maori classes are in full flight.

The health centre provides space in the rooms at the back for:
Plunket and Counselling services. Please contact the nurses for a referral.
Gym facilities are open during clinic hours. We do require you sign up to use these before you start but thereafter use at your convenience for gold coin donation.
Community Mental Health Coach. Please contact the nurses if you believe this would benefit you in the new year.

Our community garden working bee will be on Thursday 12 December. Thank you to those that regularly come along. The popular Community Crop Swap is third Sunday, Sunday 29 Oct10.30am. Please ensure you bring something garden related to swap.
Eketāhuna Food Bank can provide kai assistance to those living in Eketāhuna. Call or text Emma on 021 250 3015 to access this service. Our Christmas food parcels will be available for collection on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 December. We will be calling those on our list to set up an appointment time. If you are struggling and feel you need a parcel at Christmas, we may be able to help.
Our WaiWaste Food Rescue deliveries are not as plentiful as they have been. Many people are feeling the pinch so please think of others when taking from the pataka kai.
