Libraries Tararua Poetry Competition
Submission Guidelines
- There are 2 categories: Open category and Haiku category.
- Maximum of two entries per person across both categories;
at least one poem will be published online, selected by us.
- Competition to run from 28th July to 15th August 2025.
- Open to all New Zealand residents aged 16 years and over (employees of Libraries Tararua are not eligible to enter).
- Entries must be accompanied by the name, age, address and phone/email of the entrant. Each entry should state clearly which category (Haiku or Open).
- All entries must be in English. Email to library@tararuadc.govt.nz or hand in at any branch of Libraries Tararua. If emailed, poem/s can be in the body of the email or attached as a Microsoft Word or Publisher document. Handwritten entries will be accepted; however, they must be legibly printed.
- All poems are to be an original creation of the entrant, and previously unpublished.
- By entering, you grant Libraries Tararua exclusive royalty-free and irrevocable license to copy, store, distribute and publish your submitted poem/s.
- No late entries will be accepted.
Entries close 5pm on Friday 15th August 2025.
- There will be one prize, for the best judged poem in each category, as selected by the judge. The judge’s decision is final.
- The winner will be announced on Friday 22nd August 2025, on Library social media.
