Thank you to our wonderful library, Pamela Dais and our delightful librarians for hosting and
supporting the poetry group in Eketāhuna throughout 2025 and to everyone who has come along and
shared, reading and writing poetry and their wonderful company.

In 2026 the Eketāhuna Poetry Group plan to again meet the first Wednesday of the month,
2pm-3.30pm from February to December using the following monthly themes as launch points:
February – Snapshot of 2025
Bring or write a poem that sums up the 2025 year for you or your holidays.
March – Limericks or Ditties
Bring your own or one to share and we’ll try writing some.
April – Book Title Poetry
Choose a title of a book, either one from home, or one you see at the library and write a poem.
May – Blackout Poetry
June – Cut Out Poetry
July – Visual Prompt Poems
Bring photos or images with you to write from.
August – NZ Poetry
Bring a poem by a NZer or your own
September – Rhyming Poetry or Collaborative Poetry
October – Poetic Forms
Awdl Gywydd from Wales.
Try out a form from another culture.
November – Acrostic Poems
Create a poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word, name or phrase
December – Your Favourite Poet
Bring a poem to share from your favourite poet.
We are a relaxed, friendly and constructive group and everyone is welcome, come every month or
just drop in when you can and will confirm our venue early in the new year.
